Peter and Marion, the owners of the Copper Penny Inn at Chipshop have kindly agreed to allow us to host regular monthly acoustic sessions at their pub. Sessions are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 8pm. These free sessions are held in the skittle alley, which is well set up with tables and chairs, heating and a log burner in winter and acoustically it is very good. It is a relaxed quiet environment rather like a folk club, but with the bar and restaurant next door!
All levels and musical genres are welcome but no amps or mics please-all acoustic. We regularly enjoy folk, country, Americana, contemporary compositions, shanties, acapella songs, blues, Irish tunes and a wide variety of instruments. The sessions take the form of individual or group slots moving around a big table, rather than a jam, although players are welcome to ask for others to join them. There is usually also a good mix of age ranges too.
There are also some other infrequent sessions advertised at The Copper Penny from time to time, but these are quite separate from our regular monthly sessions and not co-ordinated by us.
